We’re getting married in Peckham and celebrating in East Dulwich.
Asylum Chapel
We’re having our wedding ceremony in Asylum Chapel, Peckham. Officially called Caroline Gardens Chapel, the Asylum was once at the heart of Victorian London’s largest complex of almshouses. The homes were provided to retired pub landlords, and the term ‘asylum’ was used to mean ‘sanctuary’.
During the Second World War, the chapel was bombed and almost completely gutted, with the amazing exception of its beautiful stained-glass windows. After being largely unused for 60 years, the enchanting chapel was reopened in 2010 by an artist-led organisation. The space is now used for film shoots, exhibitions and, luckily for us, weddings!

The Lordship
We’re having our wedding breakfast and evening reception in The Lordship, a large but cosy pub at the southern end of Lordship Lane, East Dulwich. Its low-key charm suits us perfectly.
The pub is popular with locals because of its delicious seasonal food and friendly staff, and we’re very excited about the veggie and vegan menu they’ve put together for our big day.
